Start Menu
A list of choices is a menu.
Computer offer many menus
The Start Menu can be used to open programs.
Just like Icons on the desktop can be used to open programs.

Click Start once to make the Start Menu appear.
The tiny arrow besides the menu items signals us to keep moving. A sub menu will appear.
You can use the shift key to make perfect squares and circles.

Paint Intro Lesson
Activity: Dot to Dot Design
1. Open Paint on Desktop by double clicking the icon.
2. Once you open paint rest your mouse over a tool button to see a word pop up telling you the name of that tool.
Line Tool-makes lines
Fill Tool-fills shapes with colors
Brush Tool- paints shapes with colors
Ellipse Tool-creates ovals and circles.
Text Tool-allows you to type.
3.Locate the color box
Notice the 2 overlapping squares.
The color on the top shows the color selected.
Demonstrate different colors with different shapes.
Clear the work area by clicking, Image-Clear Image or File-New-Save or Not Save

Draw a picture outline using basic shapes such as house, rocket etc
Use the Line Tool and Medium size line thickness. Make all the lines the same color.
Select the Brush Tool button and largest round brush shape-Select a different color-Click to make dots at each corner.
Trace around your drawing with your finger following the dots to see if you have all the dots you need.
Select the Text Tool and transparent option-lower one on the toolbar. Change the font size to larger one.
Using the Tex Tool number each of the dots in around your picture.

Add one or two interesting details to your picture. If you drew a rocket you can add the moon and stars. House with sky and grass.
Make the outlines disappear by filling them with the background color. Select the fill button and the same color as your background.
Click, pointing the very tip of the paint spill anywhere along the line.

Perfect Shapes
Choose red-Drag out a red oval shape
Select blue -Hold down the shift key and drag out the oval shape, you will create a perfect circle instead of an oval.
Select red-Drag out a rectangle shape
Select blue-Hold down the shift key and drag out the rectangle shape, you will create a perfect square instead of a rectangle.

Click the rectangle tool
Notice the three choice, the top choice is used to create an outline shape. The bottom choice is used to create a solid shape.
Select the outline, the one on top.
Draw two red rectangles near the bottom, Place one on top of the other, making them look stacked.
Next select blue, place 3 square boxes on top. Use the shift key to make the perfect square.
Fill each of the square green.
Fill each of the rectangle with blue
Select Yellow and the solid ellipse tool and the bottom choice to create solid shape.
Carefully place your cursor inside a rectangle and draw a yellow ball, by using the shift key.
Draw three red ball inside the square boxes.

How many yellow balls do you see? 2 How many red? 3

List shapes
3 squares, 2 circles and 1 triangele. Students choose a scene to draw such as a house, a bug or a person. Those shapes must be used.
